Renovation of an 1882 Back Bay mansion in Boston.
Completed 2010
Construction Services by Matthew Construction
This project required review and approval by the Back Bay Architectural Commission, as well as zoning relief.
Decorative metalwork drew on historic guard rail fragments found in the attic. Balconies were fabricated by WovenSteel of East Boston.
Several terra cote mullions had been removed, presumably sometime in the 20th century. This project restored the missing mullions based on extant fragments and historic photographs. Leaded-glass windows were cleaned up and uncovered on the interior of the residential units, where they had been concealed by low ceilings.
